THE STOCK MARKET IN MEXICO AND ADR'S
There presently exists a viable and functioning stock market in Mexico, headquartered in Mexico City http://www.bmv.com.mx (for other Latin American countries stock exchanges see the Latin American Stock Exchanges at Latin Business Information webpage /).
Since many areas of business endeavor in Mexico have some restriction of foreign participation, it is easy to find companies on the stock market that have limits of ownership potential to foreign nationality investors. This is why they have created the "N" series ("N" = Neutral), which permits foreign investment in that series without limit. However this "N" series stock has no voting rights (just ownership rights). For more on "N" stock see Neutral Stock Trusts elsewhere on this website.
There exist American Depository Receipts (ADR's), whereby it is possible to purchase Mexican stock by purchasing these ADR's (in the U.S.) that represent the Mexican stock.

Empaques Ponderosa, S.A. (EMPAQ) : Producer and distributor of folding paperboard from recycled materials.
Fabrica Española Magnetos, S.A. (FEMSA) : Produces Electrical and electronic equipment.
Gvideo, S.A ( GVIDEO) : Services provider.
Grupo Carso, S.a. de C.V. (GCARSO) : It's a conglomerate with a diversified product mixture.

Telefonos de Mexico, S.A. (TELMEX) : Supplier of local and long distance telephone service in most al of Mexico.
Televisa, S.A. (TELEVISA) : Network of radio and television stations.
Transportes Maritima Mexicana, S.A. (TMM) : Large maritime shipping company, specializing in dry cargo transport.
Tubos de Acero de Mexico, S.A. (TAMSA) : Producers of and distributors of several types of seamless steel drill piles, steel bars and cold drawn pipe.
Vitro, S.A. (VITRO): Producers and distributors of glass products; it produces glass forming machinery; and mines raw minerals.
At present almost 90% of the 754 categories of economic activity can be 100% foreign owned. As such, there appears to be ample room for foreign investment in the Mexican stock exchange.
